Editorial responsibility
CNS Media B.V. holds editorial responsibility for its publications. The use of AI does not remove the legal responsibilities that apply to CNS Media as publisher.
How we use AI
Article text is written by our editorial staff. Editorial staff may use approved AI tools as working aids, for example to produce draft transcripts of interviews, to locate relevant sections in long documents, to propose headline options, or to check copy against house style. An editor decides what is used. Explanatory graphics such as charts and diagrams may be created with AI assistance from verified data and are labeled as such.
Our marketing, commercial, and technical teams use approved AI tools to draft internal documents, analyze performance data, and build internal software. A person reviews and approves anything that is published or sent to readers or clients.
What we do not do
We do not publish AI-written articles. We do not generate images, video, or audio of real people, facilities, products, or events. We do not run AI chatbots or AI-driven personalization on our websites or in our newsletters. If we introduce a feature that changes this, we will disclose it where readers encounter it and update this page.
Disclosure of AI-generated or manipulated content
We provide disclosures where required by Article 50 of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act. These requirements include disclosure of:
- Deepfakes: AI-generated or manipulated images, audio, or video that resemble existing people, objects, places, entities, or events and would falsely appear authentic or truthful.
- Public-interest text: AI-generated or manipulated text published to inform the public on matters of public interest, unless the content has undergone human review or editorial control and a natural or legal person holds editorial responsibility for its publication.
Required disclosures are clear and distinguishable, meet applicable accessibility requirements, and are provided no later than the first exposure to the relevant content.
Advertising and sponsored content
Commercial communications are clearly identifiable as advertising, and the person or organization on whose behalf they are published is identifiable, in line with EU rules on commercial communications. Sponsored content is produced or supplied by the client and is labeled as sponsored wherever it's applicable. Any required disclosure of AI involvement is separate from the identification of the commercial nature of the content.
Personal data
Information about CNS Media’s processing of personal data and how to exercise your data-protection rights is available in our Privacy Statement. This AI notice does not replace the privacy information provided for a particular processing activity. Where AI tools process audience data, this happens within systems bound by a data processing agreement with us, and our AI providers are not permitted to use that data to train their models.
Accountability
This statement is owned by the Managing Director of CNS Media B.V. on behalf of the company. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for its application to editorial content, and each department head for their own area. The Vice President oversees how departments apply it and coordinates updates to this page. We review this statement at least once a year and whenever our use of AI or the law changes.
