Meal planning at the Woodson home in Temecula, Calif., is a juggle of different carbs. Ronnie Woodson, 49, is a sales executive and mother of two who is on a low-carb diet. Her 12-year-old daughter, Mallory, will eat carbs, but not those that contain gluten, a type of protein found in certain grains. Her son, Brennan, 21, is a vegetarian. Her husband, Alex, 49, eats everything. Ms. Woodson maps out meals for the week on a color-coded spreadsheet every Sunday night.
